Intense story.

Weak mechanics.

A third person shooter, Spec Ops: The Line throws you into Dubai during a time of difficulty and suffering. It is no longer the modern and luxurious Dubai that we all know of today; instead, it is covered in pain, shanties, graffiti, and political struggles.

You are a soldier in this world, and it is your mission to take down the enemies and to help bring peace to a world where peace feels more imaginary than anything else. With a straightforward and rather comfortable combat experience, and a story that is going to have you attached to the game immediately, this is a game that you can love completely.

The combat in Spec Ops: The Line is rather straightforward, as mentioned. Unlike some of the more highly detailed games out there, the experience here is simplified. You are shooting and heading for cover rather than making a strategy out of the battle.

This does not mean that it is not fun, of course, but it does not stand out in this respect. If you enjoy some of the thoughtless and careless combat that many of these types of games offer, then this is certainly something that you will love. It offers this type of combat in a great package that anyone can find entertaining.

It is the story that makes Spec Ops: The Line stand out. It is all about the morality of this situation and seeing just how far you will go in this destructive, dangerous world. You are not simply following orders and going through a world of black and white. You are going to question your own actions, you are going to have to make decisions that you may not like, and you are going to have to get out of your comfort zone.

This game does a great job of throwing you into a grey area that may not fit the type of person that you are, but that is necessary for the world that you are in. With the choices that pop up throughout the game, you are going to find yourself making these questionable decisions often.

Spec Ops: The Line is beautiful, as well. The entire game is sort of like a post apocalyptic Dubai, where the luxury of yesterday has become destroyed rubble where shanties and hiding spots are nearly everywhere. You are going to come across landscapes and images that are breathtaking in nearly every way, and you are going to travel across a land that is rather unique. There is no end to the stunning visuals in this game.

When you are admiring the appearance of this destroyed city, you are going to come across graffiti and images that will catch you by surprise. Everything in Spec Ops: The Line has a darker theme to it and is politically charged, and it creates a powerful look. It is how you would imagine a major city to look when in the middle of a massive war and political struggle. The results are incredible.
